Jarod Charzewski installed a similar project called Scarp at the Halsey Institute for Contemporary Art in 2008. This restaging uses similar materials (donated clothing, wood and cardboard) and explores ideas of North American consumer culture through a massive, site-specific installation. jarodcharzewski.com
We need about 3,000 articles of clothing to realize this project. GOCA is partnering with the Office of Student Activites to collect items from the campus community, but you can help too! To donate gently used apparel please bring them to drop boxes at either gallery or email gallery@uccs.edu to arrange a pick up (for a larger donation).
After the exhibition, all items will be donated to needy UCCS families and local non-profits; clothing will not be harmed in any way for the exhibition.
