UCCS student and current National Geographic Geography Intern James Law is one of ten staffers (including interns) who will move on to the inaugural NG Staff Bee finals March 13 after earning top scores on the preliminary written test last week. The coveted spots were hard to come by -- a tie-breaker round determined the last two finalists. The lineup will meet on stage for a chance to win an NG Expedition to the Galápagos Islands in a competition moderated by "Jeopardy!" host and longtime Bee moderator Alex Trebek. The Staff Bee is a special event for staff in celebration of the National Geographic's 125th anniversary, and the 25th anniversary of the National Geographic Bee competition for students in grades 4 - 8. In other geography education connections, UCCS is also the host institution of the Colorado Geographic Alliance, now in its 27th year of promoting the teaching and learning of geography in Colorado schools.
