Does film reflect culture or create it? This course examines social issues through film. What is valued in our society? How are social and cultural systems constructed? How do films and other media affect the ways we think about ethnicity, gender, and cultural identity? Through an array of films, this course will confront tough questions we all face in today’s complex world.
