Did you know the US homicide rate is among the highest in the industrialized world? This course will examine the topic of homicide, the nature and causes of violent crime, the controversy surrounding guns, and the role of the media in shaping public opinion. Students will tour correctional facilities, meet with criminal justice officials, and debate the death penalty, prisons, and correctional reform.
