Certificate Program Course Offerings

To complete the certificate program, faculty must complete all three of the following courses:

January 9 – January 20, 2013

  • Establishing Instructor Presence in Your Online Course, Instructor, Scott Switzer, College of Education.
    • During this session you will begin to build a presence in your online course. You will create a welcome letter, syllabus and course design that reflects your teaching style.

January 23 – February 3, 2013

  • Adapting Course Content for Online Delivery, Sharon Stevens, Faculty Resource Center.
    • This course looks at best practices for building a course structure and menu and uploading course content within Blackboard. You will develop an organizational structure for your course, utilize good design principles that enhance student learning and build a course structure in Blackboard.

February 6 – February 17, 2013

  • Building Assignments and Assessments that Engage Students, Kathryn Andrus, Faculty Resource Center.
    • This course provides an overview of assignments and assessment designed to align them with course goals and objectives.

To complete the certificate program, faculty should attend two of the following courses:

February 20 – March 2, 2013

  • Promoting Student Learning and Reflective Thinking, Sharon Stevens, Teaching and Learning Center

February 27 – March 9, 2013

  • Digital Images for Learning and Engagement, Kathryn Andrus, Faculty Resource Center

March 5 – March 16, 2013

  • Creating and Facilitating Teams, Sharon Stevens, Faculty Resource Center and Scott Switzer, College of Education

April 2 – April 13, 2013

  • Integrating Problem-based Learning in the Online Environment, Sharon Stevens, Faculty Resource Center and Scott Switzer, College of Education

April 16 – 27, 2013

  • Implementing Quality Matters, Kathryn Andrus, Faculty Resource Center and Scott Switzer, College of Education
