FRC Multimedia Services 

Classroom recordings must be by appointment and take place between the hours of 9am-5pm. Recordings must be for instructional purposes only and the FRC must be informed 1 week prior to the scheduled recording to make sure staff is available. Individuals can check out a video camera to record themselves or have someone else record them if FRC staff is unavailable. If you decide to check out a camera from the FRC, keep in mind that it must be for instructional purposes. Also, the FRC will not record lectures for an entire semester. Audio Recording

If you would like to have your classroom disucssion recorded, we can lend out a 360 degree standalone microphone that can be placed in the classroom to record audio.

Video Recording

Screen Recordings

Recording audio or video or screen record lectures for posting on web or documenting teaching for dossier. We support the screen and audio recording applications Camtasia and Screenflow, that run in the backgroud as you use other software (Powerpoint, graphics, or specialized applications for your discipline). The resulting output is a movie of what appeared on the screen with the recorded sound. Our capable and friendly multimedia assistants will complete the following jobs for faculty on a first-come, first-served basis. Please allow a minimum of 5 working days to complete the work. We can also teach you to do these tasks for yourself.

Scanning

The Faculty Resource Center has an Epson GT-1500 scanner that is open for faculty to use on a first come first serve basis. Scanning is also a service that we provide. For scanning jobs the Teaching and Learning Center requests that you provide clean, high quality photocopies of the material to be scanned in order to insure high quality digital copies. Without copies the TLC requires 1 week minimum to complete. If copies are provided the TLC offers same day service. If you fill out a work order form with the book and page numbers we will get you the scanned document within that week time period.

Digitizing

If you have old or fragile media (VHS tapes, photographs, overheads, printed or typewritten texts, drawings or other media, they can be preserved through a digitizing process which also makes them available for powerpoint, word-processing, podcasting, or web posting.

Converting

The Teaching and Learning Center can convert between many different video and image formats. If your video or image is in a format that does not open on your computer then bring or send ua the file to us and we will (attempt to) convert it to a common file type like a .mp4 for video or .jpg for images.
