Questions: 1. Do you have any landscape or irrigation drawings that you can provide for reference. A: NO 2. Can you provide numbered address for Eagle Rock storage area. A: Behind the Eagle Rock Modular buildings which are referred to as buildings 201 to 204 on the UCCS Campus Map. 3. Can you provide numbered address for Nevada storage area. A: The area is located north of the drainage way which is north of the Four Diamonds Sports Complex at 5025 N. Nevada Avenue. 4. The re-grading south of the pedestrian spine will be regarded, what will the finished product be for landscaping? Will this area be irrigated if sod or seeded? A: Sod with irrigation
6. Can we use a temporary metal concrete wash out in lieu of a permanent dug in type? A: Temporary wash out is acceptable but must be in sufficient quantity and size to contain all liquid and concrete waste generated by washout operations. 7. Bid Form, item 8, please clarify what is required with regard to the reference to submit wage rates for the prime and subcontractors. A: The construction documents do not contain a specific request for wage rates - therefore these are not required. 8. General Conditions, page 8, article 9, B, states that the contractor shall secure and pay for all permits required to complete the work. In addition to the erosion control permit, please specify those that are required. A: No other permits are required beyond the CDPHE Stormwater Construction Permit. 9. General Conditions, page 20, article 25, Insurance, C, Builders Risk Insurance, if it is desired that the general contractor include in their bid a builders risk policy, please state the amount of coverage the policy should be based on, otherwise, confirm none is required. A: Builders Risk Insurance is not required for projects under $1,000,000. 10. Section 01 50 00 Temporary Facilities & Controls, 3.02, C, please specify the reference to “trucked in electrical service”. Is this a requirement of this project or left over from another? For no more electricity than we will need during construction, couldn’t we just use the existing facilities? Similar question with regard to water. A: The Owner does not provide utility services for use by the Contractor. The Contractor shall provide a power source as needed, and either truck in water or secure a Temporary Water Service Permit (Fire Hydrant Use) from Colorado Springs Utilities. 11. Section 01 51 00, is it required that the construction staking be completed by a licensed surveyor? Please clarify exactly what the owner will provide, with regard to a project benchmark and electronic grading information. A: Yes - construction staking must be performed by a licensed surveyor. Owner will provide temporary site benchmark locations (which are tied to the Colorado Springs Utilities FIMS control), and a CAD file with contours, spot elevation, and improvement locations which shall be used in conjunction with the plan and profiles. 12. Section 31 20 00, is there a soils report available for the existing on site soils expected to be encountered in the over excavated area below the existing pavement, as discussed during the pre-bid meeting? A:Soil information will be posted on the West Lawn project listing under the UCCS Facilities Service Department. 13. Section 32 12 16, 2, B, 2, states that soft spots encountered during the proof rolling operation shall be repaired at the contractor’s expense? Please specify the quantity and exact size of the referenced soft spots so that we can include them in our bid, otherwise, state that the repair of the soft spots will be accomplished through a change order or unit price proposal. A: If soft spots are highlighted during proof rolling - any additional direction to the Contractor will be provided in a change order. 14. Section 32 13 13.3, 3.16, D, please clarify that in addition to applying curing compound to all new horizontal concrete surfaces, it is also required to cover the referenced surfaces for 7 days with 6 mil plastic? A: All portions of concrete spine (regular and colored concrete) shall be cured with liquid membrane forming curing compound and shall not be covered with plastic sheeting. 15. Sheet CO.O, Coordination Requirements, note 3, can the pedestrian spine mock up be a part of the permanent work? A: Yes if the entire mock up is acceptable to Owner. 16. Sheet C2.0, what is minimum thickness of the import top soil? A: 10 inches. 17. Sheet C2.0, note 16, is it desired to remove the existing rectangular storm inlet and grated cover and replace with a 4’ diameter concrete manhole with solid cover? A: Yes. 18. Is caulking of the joints at the location of dissimilar concrete colors required? A: the plans do not include this. 19. Please clarify the colored concrete requirements in terms of pounds of color per sack of cement. Is the specified 4% Chromix 1589 Durango Brown equal to a 4 lbs./cy color mix? (Manufacturers have different names for their available colors and most manufacturers indicate the amount of color in terms of pounds of color per 94 lb. sack of cement.) A: do what the color card you took the color from indicated. 20. How long are the “ #4 tie bars ”. Are they simply rebar dowels? Is it intended that they be located on each side of both the longitudinal and transverse 24” wide colored strips, extending in to all sides of the grey infill’s/strips? (or just the outside of the longitudinal strip as indicated on the addendum drawing?) A: See addendum #2. 21. Is caulking of the joints at the location of dissimilar concrete colors required? A: No. 22. Please clarify the colored concrete requirements in terms of pounds of color per sack of cement. Is the specified 4% Chromix 1589 Durango Brown equal to a 4 lbs./cy color mix? (Manufacturers have different names for their available colors and most manufacturers indicate the amount of color in terms of pounds of color per 94 lb. sack of cement.)
