A graduate level certificate is offered to advance individuals knowledge in teaching strategies, curriculum development and educational measurement and evaluation. One practicum rotation in either classroom or clinical education are included under the supervision of a full-time faculty member. The certificate is useful if pursuing a teaching role at the LPN, Associate Degree or BSN level. Many BSN and higher programs require an MSN and/or PhD in a clinical specialty area.

Course Curriculum

The Nursing Education Certificate is awarded upon completion of 12 credit hours.
Required courses:
  • NURS 6200 Curriculum Development in Nursing
  • NURS 6210 Transformational Teaching Strategies
  • NURS 6190 Educational Measurement and Evaluation in Nursing
Plus one of the following:
  • NURS 7710 Clinical Practicum in Nursing Education
  • NURS 7720 Classroom Practicum in Nursing Education
