Mozilla Thunderbird (Limited Functionality)

Thunderbird offers an email only solution. With Tunderbird you will not be able to sync any Contacts or Calendars from Exchange. Thunderbird is not recommended. If you wish to use Thunderbird, support is limited to the information below.

  • Enter the account name (UCCS Email, for example), your name, and email address.

  • Under Server Settings, make sure Server Name is set to The Port should be set to 993. Connection Security should be "SSL/TLS."

  • In order to ensure that your emails sync between Thunderbird and the Exchange server, make sure that "Exchange" is the where all drafts, etc. are saved to.

  • Under Addressing, make sure that "Use my global LDAP server preferences for this account" is checked.

  • In Junk Settings, check "Enable adaptive junk mail controls for this account."

  • In Synchronization & Storage, Check both "Keep messages for this account on this computer" and "Synchronize all messages locally regardless of age."

  • Check "Use my global return receipt preferences for this account" under Return Receipts.

  • Make sure that there are no certificate names entered in either box on the Security page.

  • Under Outgoing Server (SMTP) Settings, click add. Then fill out the pop-up box with matching information in the screenshot below.  Make sure that your user name is in the User Name box.
