Biographical Sketch

Professor Wang received his B.S. degree in Physics from National Central University, Taiwan, ROC, Master of Science in Electrical Engineering from Tatung Institute of Technology, Taiwan, ROC, and Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from Auburn University, Auburn, Alabama. He worked as an electronics engineer in developing circuits for industrial and defense applications in Taiwan for three years, research scientist for four years. He joined the University in 1988 as an Assistant Professor. He was promoted to Associate Professor of Electrical Engineering in 1994, and to Professor in 2006. Professor Wang worked as research scientist at Hewlett-Packard Colorado Springs division during sabbatical leave in 1995, and worked as Visiting Professor at University of Denver during sabbatical leave in 2003. Professor Wang has served as major thesis advisor for one Ph.D. student and more than 30 Master students, currently working for high-tech companies such as Triquent, LSI Logic, Atmel, Intel, Agilent, Motorola, Sun Microsystems, etc.

Research

Professor Wang's research is in the area of System on Chip Design, CMOS VLSI System Design, Computer Architecture and Design, Support Vector Machines, and Embedded System Design. He has been invited to give lectures in Support Vector Machines, VLSI Design Methodology, Low Power CMOS Circuit Design and Hand Geometry Personal Identification at Beng Corporation (Taiwan), National Instruments (Shanghai), Chongqing University (China), University of Electronic Science and Technology of China, Southwest Jaotung University (China), and Ching-Yun University (Taiwan).
