Area of Research: Religion, Race and American Ideas of Freedom: from the 17th. Century to the Present

After receiving his PhD in 1992, Dr. Paul Harvey was a Lilly Fellow in Humanities and the Arts at Valparaiso University from 1993-1995, and Pew Fellow in American Religious History at Yale University in 1995-96. Since 1996 he has been a professor of history at the University of Colorado in Colorado Springs. He is the author of Redeeming the South (University of North Carolina Press, 1997) and the forthcoming Freedom's Coming (University of North Carolina Press, 2005). He will use the CSGI Grant to research "Religion, Race and American Ideas of Freedom: from the 17th. Century to the Present."
