NSF Research Experience for Undergraduates (REU) summer program in machine learning

The National Science Foundation has awarded UCCS a three-year, $379,853.00 grant to host a Research Experience for Undergraduates (REU) site starting summer 2017.  The site is entitled "Machine Learning in Natural Language Processing and Computer Vision."  The PI is Jugal Kalita and Jonathan Ventura is co-PI; Terrance E. Boult will also participate as a student advisor.

The Department of Computer Science has had two previous REU programs in machine learning.  These programs attracted many excellent undergraduate participants from across the country who have since continued on to graduate study in computer science.
