How do I make sure I have completed all the requirements for graduation and I am on the list to graduate?
For master's and PhD graduate candidates: Contact your department staff or faculty representative.
How do I purchase my cap and gown?
Attend the Graduate Fair: November 6th and 7th in Room 116 in the University Center, 12:00 noon to 6:00 p.m. on November 6th and 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. on November 7th. After and before the Graduate Fair you may purchase your cap and gown at the UCCS Bookstore.
How do I order announcements?
What do the different color honor cords represent?
For bachelor's degree candidates: Latin Honors: Summa Cum Laude (old gold), Magna Cum Laude (silver), and Cum Laude (bronze). Other colors represent involvement in honor societies.
Latin honors for Master's and PhD graduate candidates are not awarded.
What time does Commencement start?
Commencement for undergraduate and graduate students starts at 2:00 pm at the World Arena. Graduates are asked to be at the Broadmoor World Arena (formerly Colorado Springs World Arena) by 1:15 pm.
How long will Commencement take?
Approximately 1.5 to 2 hours for the undergraduate & graduate ceremony.
Do I need to pay for parking at the Broadmoor World Arena (formerly Colorado Springs World Arena)?
No. Parking is free in the lots surrounding the Broadmoor World Arena (formerly Colorado Springs World Arena). Event staff will direct you to the appropriate parking locations.
Am I allowed to bring outside items into the Broadmoor World Arena (formerly Colorado Springs World Arena)?
It depends on the item. We are required to follow the guidelines set forth by the Broadmoor World Arena (formerly Colorado Springs World Arena). http://www.worldarena.com/ All bags and backpacks will be searched upon entry.
Do guests need tickets to attend Commencement?
Are graduates limited to a certain number of guests?
No, but there is a limit to the number of seats that can be "saved," if you have plans of sending one person early. The Broadmoor World Arena (formerly Colorado Springs World Arena) only allows four seats to be saved by any one person.
Can you recommend hotels/motels near the Broadmoor World Arena (formerly Colorado Springs World Arena) for out-of-town guests?
The University is unable to endorse individual hotels/motels; however, the Colorado Springs Visitors Guide website offers a listing of hotels in Colorado Springs.
Are there handicap seating areas for individuals with wheelchairs, crutches, or walkers?
Yes. Accessible seating is available on the concourse level (row K)
*Handicapped parking spaces are available at the Broadmoor World Arena (formerly Colorado Springs World Arena).
Is there a designation hearing impaired section?
Yes, we provide sign language in Section 108.
When/where can I pick up my cap and gown?
Caps and gowns can be purchased on-site at the Bookstore or at the Graduation Fair.
What do I do if I forget to pick up my cap/gown?
There will be a few cap and gowns available for purchase at the World Arenaon the day of Commencement. Visit the Bookstore table between
Gates A and B.
Which side of my cap does the tassel go on?
For Undergraduates: Tassels should start on the right side of the mortarboard. At the end of the ceremony graduates will be asked to move it to the left.
For Masters and Ph.D.s: Tassels begin and remain on the left side of the mortarboard.
Can I decorate my cap and gown?
You are asked not to alter your regalia in any way.
Where do (specific) graduates sit?
In the order listed in the program; see map on inside back cover. Graduates will cross the stage in a double line fashion.
Will there be an opportunity to get photos with faculty and/or the dean of my college?
Faculty are encouraged to mingle with students following the ceremonyon the arena floor.
Will there be an opportunity to get professional photos with family and friends?
Yes, Grad Images will be available to take photos on the day of Commencement. If you need to get a hold of them directly, the Grad Images customer service number is 1-800-261-8576 ext. 1950. You can also go to their website to log on to see your photos at: http://www.gradimages.com/
(enter "UCCS" for school).
When will I get my diploma?
Your diploma will be mailed to you by the end of March.
