~ Background Information ~

Dr. Irina Kopaneva is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Communication. She teaches courses in leadership and organizational communication, including its intercultural aspects. Previously, she taught at Washington State University-Pullman such courses as Intercultural Processes in Global Contexts, Intercultural Communication, Organizational Communication, Language and Human Behavior.

Her research builds on social constructionist and critical traditions. Specifically, she is interested in organizational discourses of self-portrayal, leadership, negotiation of meaning as a contested terrain, control and resistance in organizations, as well as questions of identity formation. Her work has appeared in Communication Research and Human Communication Research.
