Catharine Beecher is a senior instructor in the Department of Counseling and Human Services. Dr. Beecher's 30-year career has run the gamut of helping professions - physician, fiduciary, parent, community activist, counselor, life coach, counselor educator. She uses a strength-based, goal-focused approach with students, as well as in her practice with adolescents and adults in transition. Long interested in neuroscience and mind-body connections as related to stress-management, performance, and health, Dr. Beecher's current professional focus is on the burgeoning field of positive psychology - the science of people being and doing their best - and the development of resilience across the lifespan.
