Barbara Frye graduated from the Colorado College in 1976 and began her teaching career in District 11. She completed her doctoral degree in 1990 from the University of Minnesota in Literacy Education. Barbara spent 15 years at the University of South Florida St. Petersburg (USFSP). As an associate professor, Barbara served in a leadership role at USFSP where she oversaw field experiences. She was named Director of Teacher Education just prior to leaving USFSP. Her areas of research are early intervention programs for at-risk first grade students and teacher change. She is particularly interested in the impact of professional development on teachers' instruction and students' learning.
