Partnerships

Members of campus were asked what they would create, keep, and discard regarding Partnersips. The following are their responses:

Create

•More healthy awareness opportunities

•More military connections for research as well as drawing students in for grad programs

•More programs that cross over from community colleges to UCCS

•Build upon our unique opportunities: Broadmoor Hotel, USOC, USA National Government Bodies, Pikes Peak

•More community/business partnerships to assist with internship opportunities

•Sports organizations, health care organizations and tourism organizations

•Create a UCCS "Community in Sports Council" to include all individuals who currently (and often independently) do business with sports entities in Colorado Springs

•Crossing events with PPCC and CC is a great way to increase our visibility

•We should set up a program where we ask the community to present their research needs. This program would then connect these community research needs to faculty and students who can conduct studies to provide answers. This will enrich the learning experience for our students and will strengthen our ties to the community.

•Create a campus elementary, middle and secondary school that will both use and be subjects for reseach based interventions

•The consortum with the Southern Colorado schools is great. How about partnerships with schools throughout the inter mountain area? (BYU, Wyoming, Montana State..etc)

•Create a pipeline to the K-12 community. Blurr the line between high school and college

•Encourage more partnerships with other universities and sponsor more conferences.

•More community centered events

•UCCS has been a community leader in going "green." Are there opportunities to partner more with Colorado Springs utilities, especially in education?

•Look into improving relationships with USOC

•Provide opportunities for faculty, staff to become involved in solving local state and national problems. Make sure that the community knows that we are here and willing to partner with others. Create a position for someone to cultivate these partnerships on a full time basis.

•Create a partnership with CSPR and youth athletics to use the sports fields more openly.

•Create student experiential learning opportunities that are cross disciplines and include volunteer and/or internship opportunities

•Collaborate with non profits for MPA placements.

•Provide state-of-the-art mobile science learning labs to take into the community and high schools

•Collaborative efforts between our rec center and FDC and the YMCA of the Pikes Peak Region

•Pre-health professions...partner with Memorial and Penrose Health Systems

•Shuttle service operate on a better schedule to assist students to get to work earlier from campus by connecting to city bus lines.

•Create more communication campus wide of new and established partnerships so that other departments can build on partnerships and relationships as deemed appropriate.

•Create more library partnerships...PPCC, PPLD

•More partnerships with FDC

•More Partnerships with Air Force Academy

•Have students work on real life projects

•Partnerships with University Villiage merchants for shuttle service to UV and back at the lunch hour (they need to kick in some funding)

•Create community partnerships for research. There are only pockets and little collaboration.

•We need partnerships with sustainable organizations

•Partner with local organizations to increase clean tech and sustainability in CS - ex, solar garden

•Between UCCS and local non profits to a publicized intern opps

•We need better recruitment on all local military bases. Offer classes at base facilities. Satellite campuses?

•More health care and wellness center partnerships

•Some years ago Intel partnered with PPCC to create a program that would train students in the tech field... we could have partnered with the "wind generator" company to better study future power resources

•Partner with health service providers to offer low cost services not available at the health center.

Keep

•Stay the course. Partnerships are one of the best strategies UCCS has developed

•Programs that help prepare high school students for college

•Keep partnerships between library and colleges, these are strong in some colleges. Maybe add a space for librarian office hours in the departments

•We do an excellent job in partnering but we could definitely share our success stories more

•Good - nice work!

•Keep partnerships but make sure they do not come at the cost of our central mission or students

•Career services

•We should keep faster and better develop our cultural outreach programs like GOCA and Theaterworks

•Keep seeking out business partners to support campus ventures (eg., center for entrepreneurship should get some business partners)

•Keep continuing to build on business relationships in the community, front range and state. More campus support and highlighting will come from these relationships forged and fostered. Hopefully more money too!!

•Keep facilitation family development center in freshmen orientation

•Trust

Discard

•Stop working in silos - partnerships and other CU campuses are too hard to create

•Financial aid and academic standards should match
