Recognition Application

Clubs that demonstrate a close affiliation with the University through mission and or activity may be eligible for University recognition. Club Registration is required, but Club Recognition is optional. Recognized clubs receive additional privileges and responsibilities.

Privileges of Recognition include:

  • All privileges extended to registered clubs at UCCS
  • The ability to use the University's name in the title of the organization
  • The ability to use the University's logo on promotional and other materials
  • The ability to use the University’s tax id number for the purposes of proving tax exempt status
  • The ability to request permission to host a raffle on campus

Responsibilities of Recognition include:

  • Responsibility for all processes, procedures, and policies related to club registration
  • Required to report faculty / staff advisor contact information annually
  • Required to submit a full membership roster including student ID numbers at least annually
  • Required to submit an annual report outlining progress toward club goals and compliance with recognition requirements

General Requirements

  • The club must have a university faculty or staff advisor
  • The club must have and maintain a minimum of 10 UCCS student members
  • 75% of the club’s total membership must be UCCS students
  • All club officers must be UCCS students
  • The club must not have had any sanctions under the Club and Organization Code of Conduct within the last year

Application Process

  • Register club for current school year using the club registration form
  • Submit the club recognition application (and all required attachments) to the Student Life and Leadership desk
  • Make a 5-10 minute presentation to recognition review committee regarding club purpose (See application for presentation details)

Clubs may be eligible for recognition under one of two categories: Academic Engagement or Campus Community Engagement. In addition to general requirements, clubs must also meet the requirements for the category in which they are seeking recognition.

Academic Engagement Requirements

An association of students in a school, college, or department whose primary purpose is:

  • To advance professional or academic interests
    • Serves as a chapter of a national professional organization
    • Was established as a club within a school, college, or department and is endorsed by the respective agency
    • Receives funds and/or has access to the use of facilities and equipment from the school, college, or department
  • To recognize academic performance
    • Sets high scholastic standards for members within the school, college, or department
    • Recognizes scholastic achievement
    • Has the endorsement of the school, college, or department
  • Serves as a chapter of a national honor organization
    • To participate in school, college or department activities
    • Exists exclusively to provide service to the school, college or department
