The UCCS Campus Recreation Center features a number of amenities to help you get fit, have fun, or unwind after a long day in the classroom or office:
Aerobics and Fitness Room – hosts campus recreation group fitness classes as well as student club meetings and activities. Features as state of the art sound system and a variety of equipment used in classes and by student clubs (aerobic steps, bosu balls, tumbling mats, exercise bands…)
Lounge – relax on a couch in the lounge and enjoy watching the 60” HDTV, or check out the Nintendo Wii from the front desk and do a little gaming.
Bouldering Wall – The 12 foot bouldering wall features a variety of marked routes that meet the needs of the beginner looking to develop their basic skills, or the experienced climber looking for a challenging skills workout.
Gymnasium – the two court gymnasium is home to all of the Campus Recreation intramural programs (basketball, volleyball, indoor soccer, dodgeball), as well as a great place for members to drop in and find a pick up basketball or volleyball game.
Locker Rooms – Everything you need to get cleaned up after your workout and on with your day: full and half sized lockers (available for semester rental or free day use), showers, sinks, mirrors, and hair dryers in the women’s locker rooms. Also available are two family changing rooms complete with showers and changing benches.
Indoor Running Track – Circling above the gymnasium, the track covers 1/13 of a mile and is coated with shock absorbing rubber.
Multi-Purpose/Meeting Room – a space for Campus Recreation center staff meetings and training, student club and campus department meetings, as well as fitness classes, and other training events.
Aquatic Center – Features a swimming pool with four 25 yard lap lanes, and a leisure area that includes a vortex pool, water basketball/volleyball area, bubble couch, and underwater benches for relaxing and socializing. The hot tub is a great place to relax after a workout while enjoying the view of Pikes Peak and Colorado Springs.
Fitness Center – The fitness center features a variety of equipment designed to help you achieve your fitness goals, whatever they may be:
- Cardiovascular machines: 7 elliptical trainers, 8 treadmills, 6 exercise bikes, 2 stair steppers and 1 rowing machine.
- Selectorized weight machines: get a total body weight lifting workout on the safety and comfort of motion controlled machines. 16 pieces of equipment, each designed to work a separate body part give plenty of variety and options.
- Free weights: for the advanced weight lifter the recreation center offers a large free weight area that includes all the equipment necessary to get in your desired work out: bench press, incline press, decline press, dumbbell benches, dumbbells ranging from 5 to 115 pounds, two smith machines, two cable cross machines (one with lat pulldown and low row attachments), squat cage, Hammer Strength equipment, and a variety of bars and cable attachments.
- Stretching/Abs Area: featuring medicine balls, fitness balls, and mats this is the perfect area to compliment your workout with some core exercises or spend some time stretching before or after your workout.
