Summer Camp Mentor: Supervise and actively participate with campers in a variety of indoor and outdoor activities including swimming, climbing, arts and crafts, teambuilding games, educational sessions and more. Lead age appropriate games, projects, stories and activities while ensuring camp safety and security and enforcing all safety and risk management policies. Some administrative duties required.
Graphic Designer: Interested candidates have the ability to operate computer design tools such as PhotoShop and Illustrator, and are expected to produce graphic designs for posters, brochures, print/online advertisements and flyers. Must have an understanding of core design elements such as type, contrast, alignment, proximity and layout. Collaborate with multiple full-time program staff at Campus Recreation; Aquatics, Facilities, Fitness, Intramurals and Outdoors.
Front Desk Attendant: This position is typically the first person Rec users see when they enter the facility. Responsibilities include verifying memberships, assisting patrons with program sign-ups and providing information about all Rec programs, equipment check out and inventory, point of contact for most patrons, and assisting with various administrative tasks. This position requires strong communication skills, and GREAT customer service skills are a must!
Group Fitness Instructor: Leads group fitness classes for Rec members, mostly consisting of students, staff, and faculty. Previous teaching experience in aerobics or group fitness classes is preferred.
Intramural Official: Students are needed to officiate and keep score at a variety of different intramural competitions. No experience is necessary, training will be provided. A background in competitive sports is helpful.
Fitness Floor Attendant: Responsibilities include ensuring proper use of fitness equipment, enforcement of fit floor and facility rules, general maintenance and cleaning of equipment, "re-racking" of weights when necessary, providing assistance to patrons during lifts if needed ("spotting"), conduct orientations on the proper use of equipment and fitness areas, and assisting in the inventory and reporting of equipment repair needs. Requirements include being a current UCCS student, strong customer service skills, conflict resolution skills, and knowledge of proper use of fitness equipment.
Personal Trainer: Responsibilities include assisting clients in setting up safe and effective workout programs, assisting users in the proper set-up of fitness equipment, conducting fitness assessments, and maintaining all documentation, program development, training logs, and progress notes. Requirements include being a current UCCS student, ability to obtain within six months, or have currently, a personal trainer certification from a recognized organization, strong customer service skills, and a strong knowledge of the proper use of fitness equipment and exercise programming.
Lifeguard: Responsibilities include educating users on, and the enforcement of, pool and facility rules, prevention and mitigation of accidents or injuries, response to emergencies using current lifeguarding skills, general maintenance and cleaning of the pool area, and attendance at all lifeguard in-services. Requirements include being a currently enrolled UCCS student; possess current Red Cross, Ellis, or comparable lifeguard certification, current CPR-PR certification, and ability to demonstrate skills.
Outdoor Trip Leaders: The Rec Sports Outdoor Program is looking for individuals with experience and the passion for outdoor recreation and travel. Trip leaders will be responsible for small groups of students on single or multi day trips and activities in the Colorado outdoors. Experience in a specific outdoor arena is required; as students will be called on to impart their knowledge and skills to the trip participants. A strong emphasis is placed on safety and fun during all UCCS outings. If you have outdoor experience or a skill in a specific area contact us about becoming a trip leader.
