UCCS Business Ethics Case Competition

UCCS Campus: University Center 116
February 26, 2013
7:00 a.m. to 12 :30 p.m.

Eligible Participants: Teams of two UCCS undergraduate students - all business majors welcomed.

Teams must register together as two-person teams. Both members must be in good standing. Teams will receive the case and detailed instructions on February 12th and will have preparation time and assistance before the competition. The location will be on the UCCS Campus in room UC (University Center) 116. By registering, you acknowledge that you will be available Tuesday, February 26, 2013 from 8am-1:30pm for the competition and the lunch.

The case will revolve around a business dilemma that has an ethical problem that needs to be resolved. Each team will be asked to identify the key stakeholders, as well as the financial, legal, and ethical considerations that must be taken into account while finding a solution to the business dilemma at hand. Teams will be asked to assume a particular identity (e.g., company employees and/or consultants) and then offer solutions/recommendations to a specific identified target audience (e.g., company executives and/or a board of directors) on how the business should proceed. Presentations are not to exceed 20 minutes and will be followed by 10 minutes of Q&A from the judges. Judges will include representatives from the Colorado Springs City Council and Harris Corporation among others.

An awards luncheon at The Lodge on the UCCS campus will directly follow the competition; cash prizes will be awarded to the top finishing teams.
