The Daniels Fund Ethics Consortium is thrilled to host this inaugural case competition! The event will be held on April 12-13, 2012 at the Denver Marriott City Center and we are looking forward to meeting all the participating students, faculty advisors, and guests. We hope that the competition is stimulating and reinforces the importance of principle-based ethical decision making in business and in life in general.
The Daniels Fund Ethics Consortium Case Competition will expose students to a thought-provoking business ethics case that they might face in their professional careers. Is competition will build on the solid principle-based ethical framework central to decision making in a complex business environment. Ethics demonstrated in the competition will need to convey that principles are a constant foundation – not relative to a specific situation – and that doing what’s right prevails over self-interest even when the two may appear to collide. Student teams will collaboratively analyze, present, and respond to questions posed by a panel of judges. Students will compete with teams from the other universities in the Daniels Fund Ethics Consortium. The experience promises to challenge students’ moral reasoning, provide a significant networking opportunity, and in the end, raise students’ awareness of the importance of principle-based ethics.
One team from each of the seven Daniels Fund Ethics Consortium universities is invited to attend. Teams shall consist of 4-6 undergraduate business students—at least two males and two females. No more than two faculty advisors can attend to support each team. Universities may also bring up to four students to observe the competition. All student team members must be enrolled at the university they represent.
The Daniels Fund Ethics Consortium Case Competition blends a traditional case competition with crisis management simulation.
