UCCS College of Business among nations best schools for veterans, with 300 students and 40 military enrolled in Fall 2015.

A supportive adviser and faculty members are the biggest key to helping military veterans get through business school, according to the Military Times' new "Best for Vets: Business School 2016" ranking.

That was the piece of data the ranking factored in with the most weight in the list of the 77 best business schools for vets, in which four Colorado schools were named.

The four Colorado schools on the list are:

  1. Colorado State University's College of Business (No. 29 overall), which had 1,019 students enrolled in fall 2015.
  2. University of Colorado-Colorado Springs' College of Business and Administration (No. 37 overall), which had 300 students, 40 military, enroll in fall 2015.
  3. Metropolitan State University of Denver's College of Business (No. 45 overall), which has 124 students, 3 military, enroll in fall 2015.
  4. Colorado Technical University's College of Business and Management (No. 65 overall), 2,861 students, 685 military, enroll in fall 2015.

To compile the list, Military Times evaluated 180 schools across five categories: university culture, student support, academic outcomes and quality, academic policies and cost and financial aid.

Many of the schools that landed on the list had leaders with military ties, affordable tuition costs and veterans already attending classes.

MSU Denver College of Business Dean Ann Murphy said the school is able to assist vets well because many of the staff are veterans.

"It's encouraging that [MSU Denver's] efforts to support our veteran and military connected students has been recognized," she said.
