Friends and Colleagues,
With the return of longer days and warmer temperatures, I can't help but remark how appropriate it is to commemorate once again the return of spring with our annual Lifetime Entrepreneurship Award Luncheon. Our award recipient this year has contributed to the growth and development of Colorado Springs for over 50 years, and has played an instrumental part in the blossoming of our community. This year, we honor Chuck Murphy.
Developing real estate and renovating historic buildings are much more than brick and mortar to Chuck Murphy. They're about bringing dreams to reality, protecting history, and enriching the Colorado Springs community with assets that will be enjoyed for generations to come.
Chuck's company, Murphy Constructors, has restored some of the priceless, historical relics of our city, such as The Cliff House, The Cheyenne Building, and the Manitou Springs Spa Building. In true entrepreneurial fashion, Chuck was not content with just one business, and operated several over the years including The Garden of the Gods Campground, Gray Line Tours of Colorado Springs and Brookside Assisted Living.
In addition to his business pursuits, Chuck is also a fervent supporter of the arts and the non-profit community and has served on numerous boards, including Pikes Peak Hospice, Silver Key Senior Services, The Fine Arts Center, the Downtown Business Improvement District and the Downtown Partnership. A true benefactor, Chuck's commitment to our community is amazing.
Please join me in celebrating Chuck's accomplishments at this year's Lifetime Entrepreneurship Award luncheon, Friday April 19th at the UCCS Gallogly Events Center. I would also like to thank our Dean's Circle sponsors for their generous support of this year's event. Please visit the event website for more information and to register.
