Adam Reckard recounts his experience learning about the intricacies of a Rapids gameday.

The Colorado Rapids and the University of Colorado Colorado Springs Sport Management program have partnered together to give students the chance to participate in a fellowship program with the club.

Each month, one of the fellows will detail their journey from the classroom to Dick's Sporting Goods Park. This month, Adam Reckard recounts his experience learning about the intricacies of a Rapids gameday.

Adam's UCCS Fellowship Journal: December 2016

My experience with the Colorado Rapids was nothing short of what I dreamed of. Not only was I getting this privilege to work with my hometown team, but I was given the duty to help deliver the match ball through kids that attended the match. This was a wonderful experience and gave me an insight of just how time-oriented each event during the match has to be. In past years, the match ball was delivered by having the same guy jump out of an airplane and parachute the ball into the stadium and was recently changed to having younger kids deliver the match ball. Personally, this reminds me of when I was younger. I would itch at any opportunity I had to go on the field, so to be a part of a time when these younger kids get to go on the Rapids' field was pretty special to me. When the final production is all said and done I see a bunch of smiling faces running towards me at the corner and that makes presenting the match ball something special to everyone involved.
