Black Forest fire update: Shelter to close, rec center to reopen

The Red Cross shelter at UCCS for individuals and families affected by the Black Forest Fire will close at 6 p.m. June 15.  For more information regarding the Black Forest Fire Disaster Assistance Center visit http://www.elpasoco.com/

As a result of the shelter’s closure, the Campus Recreation Center will reopen to the campus community and regularly scheduled activities there will resume beginning at noon Sunday, June 16.

All other activities and classes at UCCS are continuing as scheduled.

Susan Szpyrka, vice chancellor, Administration and Finance, expressed her appreciation to faculty, staff and students for their patience during the closure of the recreation center and the many offers of assistance received.

UCCS faculty, staff and students who are in need of housing or special parking arrangements as a result of the fire, should contact the UCCS Office of Emergency Management, 255-3212 or email eprepare@uccs.edu.
