Educational Resources

The materials posted here were research projects that involved biology students at UCCS.

Inquiry-based Laboratory Materials

This includes all the protocols and supplies needed to conduct a stand- alone, three-laboratory module entitled "Soakin' up the rays with Schizosaccharomyces pombe." This module is composed of a series of experiments that allow students to navigate through a UV-mutagenesis screen and explore how cells monitor their genomic integrity. It was developed by Lisa Durrenberger (UCCS master's student and secondary educator), Lisa Hines (UCCS faculty) and Tom Wolkow (UCCS faculty). For additional information, you can contact either Lisa Hines (lhines@uccs.edu or Tom Wolkow (twolkow@uccs.edu).

Disease Tutorials

The purpose of the disease tutorials is to provide the general audience with some background and statistics on the listed diseases. It is not intended to provide clinical advise. Each module was created by a current or former UCCS biology student.
