Research Interests:

With an undergraduate degree in wildlife biology and graduate studies concentrating in mammalogy and physiology, I have remained interested in these areas of study. Although my earlier studies and graduate students concentrated on natural history and rodent fleas, I am currently involved with studies on mule deer does and red foxes. The purpose of the mule deer research is to elucidate the effects of military training on the short and long term activities of the does and their choices of parturition sites. Currently graduate students under my supervision are studying bird populations around a military air field as they may relate to bird-aircraft strike hazards, landscape use and behavior of red foxes in an urban environment, and wildlife use of guzzlers. In addition, I am a Research Associate at the Denver Museum of Nature & Science where I collaborate with colleagues on the identification of fleas from small mammals in the museum's collection.
