Beth-El College of Nursing and Health Sciences offers courses that lead to a certificate in the following specialty areas:

CORRECTIONAL HEALTH (Undergraduate/Graduate/Post-Master's register through Extended Studies ONLY)

Correctional Health is the practice of providing patient care within the unique and distinct environment of the criminal justice system which includes jails, prisons, juvenile detention centers and substance abuse treatment centers.

  • The Correctional Health Certificate is awarded upon completion of 12 credit hours.

FORENSIC NURSING (Undergraduate/Graduate/Post-Master's register through Extended Studies ONLY)

The paradigm for Forensic Health Sciences focuses on meeting the needs of victims and perpetrators of violent crime. The model applies clinical and scientific nursing knowledge to the delivery of care for survivors of traumatic injury, victims of violence, or death investigations.

  • The Forensic Nursing Certificate is awarded upon completion of 12 credit hours.

NURSING EDUCATION (Graduate or Post-Master's)

A graduate level certificate is offered to advance individuals knowledge in teaching strategies, curriculum development and educational measurement and evaluation. One practicum rotation in either classroom or clinical education are included unter the supervision of a full-time faculty member. The certificate is useful if pursuing a teaching role at the LPN, Associate Degree or BSN level. Many BSN and higher programs require an MSN and/or PhD in a clinical specialty area.

  • The Nursing Education Certificate is awarded at the graduate level upon completion of 12 credit hours.
ADULT GERIATRIC NURSE PRACTITIONER (Post-Master's)
  • The Adult Geriatric Nurse Practitioner Certificate is awarded at the Post- Masters level upon completion of 32 credit hours.

FAMILY NURSE PRACTITIONER (Post-Master's)

  • The Family Nurse Practitioner Certificate is awarded at the Post- Masters level upon completion of 31 credit hours.
