UCCS Bookstore

  • Turn off lights in offices when no one is present.
  • Turn off monitors and power strips at night.
  • Paper is recycled throughout the store and offices.
  • Recycled paper is used in printers.
  • Bookstore serves as a drop off location for printer cartridge and plastic bag recycling.
  • Recycling of packing material and boxes in shipping and receiving.
  • Offer e-books which are environmentally friendly, rent books and buy back used books to encourage recycling of texts. 
  • Recycling of reservation boxes.
  • Conscious reduction of the printing of reports and items from the MBS system. 
  • Text orders are e-mailed to vendors rather than printed on forms. Text order listings are e-mailed to department assistants rather than printing them every couple of weeks (as previously done).
  • Recycled products are available for purchase in the text, supplies, clothing, gift and sundries departments.
  • Customers are encouraged to bring in or purchase reusable shopping bags.
  • "Green" graduation regalia is available for purchase at the Bookstore. It is made from recycled material and graduates are encouraged to recycle it after use.
  • Request vendors to send statements/invoices via e-mail rather than paper when available.
  • Carry product line of earrings made from recycled items such as soda bottles and yogurt containers.
  • Working with company in Montrose, Colorado, "Trashe Bags" to upcycle discarded bags into totes for resale.
