Going Paperless: In 2009 the Gallery of Contemporary Art (GOCA) moved all communications to digital format, saving hundreds of pounds of paper from being produced for publications. In addition, GOCA was able to help reduce UCCS' carbon footprint by eliminating the mailing of those publications as had been done in past years.
Lighting Retrofit: In January, 2011, GOCA received an upgrade in lighting fixtures in the 2,800 square foot gallery space. 30-year-old, inefficient can lights and fluorescent fixtures were replaced with new, energy efficient fixtures and direct/indirect fluorescent lighting. UCCS' overall energy consumption will be reduced by this retrofitting.
