Family Development Center
- The FDC redesigned client sign in sheets so that they are monthly instead of weekly. This saves approx. 5,000 sheets of paper per year
- Working on a paperless billing system to save paper
- Started a children's organic garden. Children choose, plant and eat the foods from the garden.
- Recycle some of the food waste for composting and use in our garden.
- Installed energy efficient thermostats to conserve on energy
- Regular reminders in FDC newsletters to turn off lights when not in room or office and shut down computers when not in use
- Switched to using only recycled paper in the photocopier
- Thermostats setback to a higher cool and slightly lower heat setting.
- We also had thermostats reduced to even lower settings weekend and evenings for heat and higher for cooling
- Clearly marked recycling containers in all of our staff areas to encourage recycling
- Teach the children in our care about the importance of recycling and conserving precious resources such as water
- Participate in the UCCS composting Program
- Installed new shades and storm shutters to improve energy efficiency
