The Kathleen Elder Research Collection
The Center is dedicated to Kathleen Elder. Her life spanned 1957 - 1999 and everyone who knew her misses her. She passed away after a long battle with cancer. As a student of Anthropology and Archaeology, she was more than a fellow student; she was a good friend to all who knew her. She was always willing to share a smile, help her fellow students with whatever she could and assist the Anthropology Club anyway she could. We are grateful for the time we shared with Kathleen and to her family for all they have shared and donated to us.
The Kathleen Elder Research Center is located in Anthropology Lounge, on the first floor of Centennial Hall. The Center was dedicated in October of 1999 and the collection has been available for use since the Fall Semester of 2000. The Center was moved to its current location in 2010 when the Anthropology Department relocated to Centennial Hall.
Thanks to her family, a great many new resources have been acquired and made available for the Anthropology Department and for those students that are currently taking Anthropology Classes. There are many others that have also contributed to our Research Center and we are grateful to them as well.
In order to use the Researach Center you must be a current UCCS student, be anthropology major or be taking an anthropology class.
The collection contains books, journals, archaeological documents, reprints, maps, some archive materials and other types of research data and materials.
All of the resources are in a database, searchable and must be checked out by the student with approval of one of the professors in the department or by one of the anthropology club officers.
The Research Center is available for your use and the Anthropology Club Officers and Professors are happy to assist you with any questions you may have regarding the collection.
Hours of Operation
Access to the collection is by appointment only. If you wish to use the center please contact the department at 719-255-3620.
