Reconnect with UCCS

Are you looking for a way to reconnect with your alma mater? Below are just a few of the opportunities that allow you to make a difference as an alumnus of UCCS. Do you have additional ideas for ways that you would like to become involved? Let us know.

Alumni Board
The Alumni Board is a select group of volunteers consisting of representatives from each college at UCCS. The Board works with the Office of Alumni Relations to develop long-term alumni strategies, to increase participation in alumni events, and to improve the benefits available to UCCS alumni.

Café Scientifique
The Café Scientifique is an opportunity for people to come together in a friendly environment after work. An expert provides an informal introduction to an interesting current scientific topic followed by a question and answer period and general discussion.

Campus-Wide Mentoring Program
The UCCS Student Multicultural Affairs Mentorship Program encourages community among diverse students, faculty, staff and alumni through quality mentoring partnerships and academically empowering and culturally affirming group activities. The program pairs a mentor and 1-4 student mentees who meet both individually and as a team in an informal setting at least twice a month.

Career Center / Student Employment
The Career Center and Office of Student Employment assist current UCCS students with finding employment both prior to and after graduation. Alumni who are aware of job openings or internships are highly encouraged to contact the Career Center and/or to post the position on the Student Employment Assistance Network (SEAN’s Place).

College of Business Mentoring Program
If you are a graduate of the College of Business and would like to mentor a business student, so you can do so through the College of Business Mentoring program. Any College of Business alumnus can become a mentor; just contact Kellie Mangino to sign up. All students are asked to list their area(s) of interest and their major on our sign up sheet. Each mentor also lists his or her degree(s) so that students are paired with mentors from the same field.

Curiosity Unlimited
Curiosity Unlimited is a non-profit organization founded in 1977 by University of Colorado at Colorado Springs alumni/ae and local citizens to provide student scholarships, stimulate community interest in UCCS, acquaint the public with faculty, study relevant issues and engage in learning though a free on-campus lecture series. Contact Deanna Lyons at (719) 527-8036 for additional program and organization information.

Donations
If you would like to make a financial contribution to support UCCS, you may do so online. The CU Foundation website allows you to view a comprehensive list of giving opportunities or to select an area of interest that is special to you. If you would like to speak with someone about making a donation, please contact Jaime McMullen-Garcia at (719) 536-4480.

Listening In
The Listening In program is an educational opportunity for those 55 years or older who would like to "listen in" to any course offered at UCCS, with the exception of material intensive courses, labs and courses with limited seating.

Recruitment
One of the easiest ways that you can impact UCCS is to share your experiences with prospective students. If you know of individuals who are considering UCCS, please let us know so that we can answer their questions and give them the information they will require for the application process. To pass on the name and contact information of a prospective student, call (719) 262-3180.

Students Today, Alumni Tomorrow (STAT)
STAT is a student-operated campus organization whose mission is to promote the Alumni Association to current UCCS students, to assist students with career development and to build mentoring relationships between students and alumni. If you are interested in speaking to the STAT group at one of its meetings, contact the Office of Alumni Relations at (719) 262-3180.

Super Saturday at the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs is a program of classes for gifted students in the Pikes Peak region. The program is run under the auspices of the College of Education, and classes meet on the University campus. Class size ranges from 12 to 16 students.  The goal of Super Saturday is to challenge the students’ intellectual and creative abilities.

Members are committed to using the Club’s financial resources for student scholarships, teacher awards, and campus and community outreach efforts. The University Club actively encourages members to participate in campus functions and to help foster community support.

Volunteer Information Network and Community Exchange (VINCE)
VINCE is a program that encourages UCCS students, faculty and staff to volunteer throughout the Colorado Springs Community. If you have a volunteer opportunity available, please post it here.

Volunteering in the Office of Disability Services
The Disability Services Office is seeking volunteer readers to help with the Alternate Format Program (to create audio texts for students with disabilities ranging from sight disabilities to head injuries). We provide the materials needed: books, tapes, and tape-recorders, which permits you to read from the comfort of your home. For more information, contact Brittany Cox at (719) 262-3354.
