Alumni Connections:
College of Engineering and Applied Science, January 2011

Dan DandapaniGreetings and Happy New Year from the UCCS College of Engineering and Applied Science.

As the spring semester begins, we are happy to report that the college student credit hours (SCH) are up. Undergraduate SCH are up 16% and graduate SCH are up 26%. We will keep you updated on the final numbers after census date.

As mentioned last month, the 2011 High School Engineering Expo has now come and gone. I am glad to report it was a great success. Students and parents reported that their questions were answered. All EAS departments had many representative faces and voices to share their experiences and really give that glimpse into what UCCS, EAS and college are all about. You can find the photos on our Facebook page, please look below.

Once again, we want to thank you for enduring with us as part of our community, college and commitment to excellence.

CISCO, UCCS Partnership Shared with Global Audience

El Pomar Clock TowerAfter a semester-long experiment, UCCS and computer giant Cisco shared a new way of delivering education before a world-wide audience last week.

During the fall semester, instructors from the College of Engineering and Applied Science and the Beth-El College of Nursing and Health Science taught to students at Otero Junior College and Lamar Community College via Cisco Telepresence in addition to students on campus. In doing so, Bob Kressin and Sue Davis put UCCS in the record books. UCCS is the first university to use Telepresence to deliver for-credit college courses. (More)

KRDO also aired a story about UCCS and its partnership with CISCO in UCCS IS THE FIRST COLLEGE IN THE US TO USE TELEPRESENCE.

Bernard is a Parisian architect with three air hostess fiancées, each convinced she's the only one. It all works perfectly until an old school friend arrives and a new jet messes up the precision timetables. This classic French farce of the sixties was the most deliriously funny show we saw in London three years ago, and we promise it will fly just as high and just as fast in our own air space.
