Lucas and his wife had their first baby in June of 2009, a little boy.  In his free time, Lucas loves to spend time with his wife, baby and dogs.  He also helps coach a U-11 soccer team for the Pride Soccer Club.
  • Garrett Edwards, College of Engineering and Applied Sciences, '03
  • Rolf Jacobson, College of Business, '94
  • Mark Jones, College of Letters, Arts and Sciences, '79
  • Robert King, College of Letters, Arts and Sciences, '98
I graduated with cum laude honors from UCCS with a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology in 1998.  As an undergraduate student, I was involved in Psi Chi, Psychology Club and undergraduate research with faculty in the psychology department.  I feel very fortunate to have had the opportunity to pursue an education at a university that provides small class sizes and individualized attention from professors.

I am employed by UCCS as an academic advisor in the Student Success Center.  I have held this position since 2004.  I am a proud member of the Army Reserve with a deployment to Iraq in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom.  Currently, I am pursuing a master’s degree in social work and I hope to follow this career path professionally as a licensed clinical social worker.

Having lived in Colorado Springs most of my life, I spend my free time with my wife exploring all there is to offer in the community and this great state.

I am serving on the alumni board for my third term and I am very excited about the potential to build a relationship between our current students and alumni.  Furthermore, I am interested in fostering the bond between alumni and UCCS by developing opportunities to become connected to campus.  We have so much new happening at UCCS from state of the art facilities, innovative programs and mountains of activities that you owe yourself at trip to campus to see what has changed at your alma mater.

Robert can be contacted by email at rking@uccs.edu.

  • Christy Sipsey, College of Business, '01 and '03
  • Janelle Sisneros, College of Letters, Arts and Sciences, '02
I am currently a social caseworker at the El Paso County Department of Human Services.  I have been with this agency for almost six years.  I am a member of the Team Success program which is a voluntary family preservation program.  We are the only self-directed team in our agency, as well as in any other human services agency in the state of Colorado.  The main mission of my Team is to ensure that children remain safely in their home.  The focus is on preservation and prevention with the goal of keeping families out of the child welfare system.  We receive referrals from all areas of our agency and provide direct in-home services to families with children up to age 18.  The families that I work with have a multitude of barriers and most all cases are multi-problematic.  Issues that I help families work on can include education, employment, housing, mental health, disability, domestic violence, substance abuse, parenting and more.  In my position we work very closely with a wide variety of community agencies and resources.  In doing so, I have been able to develop partnerships with many community agencies, thus allowing me to better meet the needs of the families that I work with.  I have been able to connect with community resources and have learned much more about what our local community has to offer.  I take pride in my position as a family stabilization caseworker and really enjoy working with families and watching them accomplish their goals.  This position has helped me to grow both professionally and in my personal life.
  • Charlotte Waters, College of Business, '01
A Colorado Springs resident since 1996 my roots goes back to Oklahoma where I was raised in the country. My married life took me away to Missouri, New Mexico and Ohio and eventually to Colorado Springs. While no longer married I've made Colorado Springs home and enjoy the life that living in such a beautiful place with nice weather brings. I've been with Memorial Health System since 1996 and my MBA through UCCS broadened my thinking, skills and knowledge in so many ways which has helped me in work which I love. I'll always think of my UCCS instructors with respect, affection and appreciation for their guidance and interest in me. UCCS is a wonderful asset to our community.
