Camp Description:
The individual basketball camp, run by UCCS Head Women’s Basketball Coach Corey Laster, focuses on helping players improve their fundamentals and footwork in an environment that promises to be challenging and fun. Campers will participate in a variety of drills designed to help them develop the skills necessary to improve and enjoy the game of basketball. Campers will also participate in 3 on 3 and 5 on 5 games that will help them use the skills they have learned, as well as learn team concepts of basketball. A 3:1 camper to coach ratio ensures that campers will get plenty of individual attention and coaching. Coaches will evaluate players and give them specific areas to work on to improve their basketball skills. The camp will conclude with an award ceremony where campers will be recognized for the efforts and achievement and prizes will be awarded throughout the week for winning challenges that are presented.
UCCS Division II Head Women’s Basketball Coach Corey Laster is excited to host this camp, designed to teach basketball skills and fundamentals in a fun and supportive environment. Most recently, Coach Laster was an assistant for three seasons at NCAA Division I Bucknell. Prior, he orchestrated an eight win turnaround as the head coach for Division III Defiance (Ohio) College in 2006-2007. Laster started his coaching career at Taylor University in Fort Wayne, Indiana, as an assistant men’s basketball coach in 1999 and in 2000 became the head coach of the women’s program, remaining in that position for three seasons.
