Promoting Your Event
There are many successful strategies to help you promote your event. A few of them are as follows:
- If you are using a printed invitation, it is generally a good idea to mail it about three weeks prior to your event in order to accommodate your guest’s schedules.
- If you are using an email invitation, you should send it three weeks prior to the date of your event.
- In addition, it can be useful to send weekly reminders (via email) to your guests to help increase the accuracy of your attendee count.
- If attendance confirmations are not coming in as planned, you may want to consider phoning some of your key guests to determine whether or not they will be in attendance.
Media
- Depending on the type of event you are hosting, you may want to work with the Office of University Relations (contact Tom Hutton at x3439) to create a press release that will be distributed to local media.
- Depending on the time and budget you have at your disposal, you may also want to consider an advertisement on the UCCS television station (contact Jerry Wilson at x3594) or on the ISAMI campus internet radio station (contact Marge Mistry at x3085).
- A month before the event, you can list your event on various media calendars. These calendars on published in print and online. To do this, contact the Office of University Relations at x3439.

Printed Publications
- If you are promoting your event on campus, list it in the Silver and Gold Record (contact Ron Fitz at x3623) and (if possible) in the Scribe (contact x3469). In order to work with the printing schedules for these publications, you’ll want to begin work on this process several weeks before the date of your event.
- Fliers on campus can also be a great way to promote your event. To help you with this process, we have developed a flier template. In addition, guidelines for flier posting can be obtained through the University Center at x3450.

- Chalking can also help direct guests to your event. Guidelines for chalking can be obtained through the University Center at x3450.
