MINUTES from 8 March 02

1) Announcements: The CU System will have an IP forum on March 21 from 3 to 4:30 in UC 116A * The MS Contract with Spectrum Software has been signed * Proposals for the Student Technology Fee are due Friday, March 15.

We have 2 goals for the remainder of the semester: to make a recommendation concerning the streamlining investigation and to revisit the strategic plan for year 2 modifications.

2) Discussion: There was a good discussion centering on how our campus should address enforcement of software licenses. ITAC was divided as to whether the campus should take a central approach to tracking licenses or whether this should be left to the units. After speaking with University Counsel, CU Denver leaves the tracking of licenses up to the units. The university accepts liability but the units are held accountable. This will be discussed at the IT Leadership Team.

3) Discussion: We finalized the criteria for the streamlining investigation. If you have more subtopic ideas, please get them to me by Thursday. (I will post the criteria on the ITAC website - http://www.uccs.edu/~jhaefner/itcouncil/. At which time, I will turn over the criteria to IT. IT will then draft a 2-3 whitepaper on the comparisons of the Unix and the Microsoft platforms in time for the next meeting. This next meeting will be an important meeting where we will have an in-depth discussion.

Please reserve Friday, April 26 at 9 am for a possible additional ITAC meeting.
