Minutes for 10 May 2002

The ITAC met Friday, 10 May 2002. These are the minutes from that meeting.
(The next meeting is Friday, 14 June 02, at 9 am in EPC 304C)

Minutes
1) Jere distributed a discussion paper outlining a proposed process for
studying online instructional technologies on campus. After good discussion,
we decided to break this study into 2 phases - phase 1 to occur this summer
while phase 2 will take place in the fall. The updated discussion paper is
attached. Jere will distribute letters of invitation to the phase 1
committee members in May. Jere will also email the campus with an outline of
the study.

2) Jerry updated ITAC on the Microsoft License issue. It is important to
note that Microsoft will be increasing the license costs on July 1 so it is
best if orders are placed prior to that date.

3) Quick updates:
* The science network upgrade should soon be finished. Dwire is next on the
list for network upgrades.
* The Student Technology Fee committee made recommendations for project
funding this spring. Jere will update the STF website.
* Web-based email is scheduled for deployment 1 June 02.
* A demo for the streaming media server will be scheduled this summer. Look
for details.
