Sustainability Committee Update UCCS Faculty Assembly

December 12, 2003

1. Awaiting contract with Viron, the energy management consultants which will identify which energy conservation measures the campus has selected. Committee will then work with the Education Consultant hired by Viron to help move the campus culture to consider sustainability in daily activities which will eventually save the campus money.

2. Awaiting results of the FIPSE grant proposal to establish a multi-disciplinary Sustainability certificate program.

3. Members of the committee are encouraging faculty and staff to view the video of the national campus sustainability telecast available in our library

4. Today members of the Committee and members of the Students for Environmental Awareness and Sustainability are meeting at CC's organic cafe and then touring

the College's new Tutt Science Building which is a green, sustainable building which uses the building itself as a teaching laboratory as well as incorporating the latest techniques in sustainable architecture.
