Faculty Assembly

Personnel and Benefits

Minutes: November 3, 2003

Attending: Charlie Shub, Ted Baldwin, Carole Flint, Mary Ann Kluge, Ceil Malek, Dick Carpenter, Rex Welshon, Judy Rice-Jones, Don Morley

Informational points:

1.    At present there are no good health care guesting options available for faculty and their families who live or travel outside of El Paso County.

2.    El Paso county was inadvertently omitted from the Kaiser service area in the open enrollment package.

3.    After consultation with a FF associate vice chancellor David Moon it appears that the only college to have a written policy on promotion of non-tenure track faculty is Beth-El.

Requested actions:

1. Committee requested the chair to follow up with VCAA Redding and advise him of the earlier faculty assembly motion asking that his office look at the colleges' NTT evaluation policies and practices.

2. Committee requested the chair to discuss with the VCAA obtaining individual faculty member data from the salary comparison study (i.e. peer data and UCCS data).

3. Committee is attempting to identify possible non-pecuniary benefits mentioned in the faculty handbook and will ask the chancellor to verify which are actual and falsely rumored benefits.

Motion:

1. The faculty assembly request that the deans in consultation with their non-tenure track faculty develop written simple policies and procedures for promotion to senior instructor by the end of the fall 2003 semester.
