Report of the Library Advisory Committee (LAC)—Minutes of 7 October 2004
The LAC met on Thursday, 7 October 2003 at 8:15, in El Pomar 304C.
Present: Lesley Ginsberg (chair), Rita Hug (Library), Leslie Manning (Library), David Weiss (LAS-Sci), Rodger Ziemer (EAS), Michael Kisley (LAS Soc-Sci).
Item: due to a teaching scheduling change for spring 05, Lesley Ginsberg will not be able to attend Representative Faculty Assembly meetings.
Item: Michael Kisley was voted new chair beginning spring 05 by unanimous acclaim.
Item: Many electronic packages are soon up for renegotiation. We have no word yet about whether new terms and/or prices will be demanded.
Item: the Library is planning a new discussion to series to draw students, faculty, and the general public to the Library. The first panel is on the topic: “America in the World: How They See Us, Why It Matters.” Panelists will be Chancellor Pam Shockley, Dr, Bob Larkin, Dr, Patricia Keilbach, and Dr. Fernando Feliu-Moggi. The panel will be held on 9 November 2004, from 10-11:30a.
Item: The Library volunteer is off to a good start: six volunteers are actively assisting the Library in various tasks, including making displays, ILL, text services, and sorting books.
There being no further business, the meeting adjourned at 9:15.
