Library Committee Report

March 2005

The Committee has been in flux since the person who agreed to take over the position of chair for spring 05 in October had to step down suddenly in January. After negotiation, Mary Hagedorn has agreed to co-chair by attending Faculty Assembly meetings when she is able. Lesley Ginsberg will serve as a co-chair by scheduling meetings and preparing minutes through the end of spring 05.

Our meetings are scheduled for 17 March and 5 May. All meetings are at 8:15a in El Pomar 304C. At the March meeting we will decide if an April meeting is warranted.

The main agenda item for 17 March will be discussion of the Library quarterly budget report for FY 05. The essential item of concern for the committee is the failure of annual increases in library funding (3%) to keep pace with the annual inflation in library materials (7.3%), creating a de facto cut in spending power for library materials. The committee will discuss the issues and decide whether and/or how we shall respond.
