Committee on Women for May 2002

• Writer Anna Menendez visited campus on Monday,
22 April 2002. She gave a reading on campus, UC 116, at 4:30
• Andrea
Herrera read from her novel, The Pearl of the Antilles, and lead a discussion of
her work on Monday, 6 May 2002, UC 116, at 4:30 pm.
• Our
end-of-year reception will be held on Wednesday, 15 May 2002, in the UCCS Gallery of
Contemporary Art, from 3-5pm. All women faculty, instructors, and lecturers have been
invited to attend, as have relevant staff members and friends of the committee of either
gender.
• Applications
for our Spring Mini Grants were due on Friday, 3 May 2002. We received eight applications
from a variety of disciplines and colleges. This was up from six applications for our Fall
Mini Grants. The grants will be awarded as soon as the director of Women’s Studies
returns from a conference abroad.
