Faculty Assembly

Personnel and Benefits

Members of the Personnel and Benefits Committee, Staff representatives, and Faculty Assembly President Malone met on April 16, 2001 with Steve McNally, the new head of centralized Payroll and Benefit services. Problems that were detailed with the centralized benefit system included:

1. long phone waits

2. very little on campus presence of traveling benefits officers

3. the previous full time on campus presence was superior

4. the fact that the Boulder campus has a physical benefits presence and Denver has "one          stop shopping" for health care due to the presence of University Hospital makes this           campus’ need for a full time presence somewhat unique

5. due to the cost of travel and hotels there has probably been little, or no, savings realized          from moving to centralized benefits

Mr. McNally indicated he would continue to examine the issue. Specifically, compare the cost of central and local benefits officer presence on this campus.
