Report of the Faculty Assembly Budget Committee,

1. The Vice - Chancellors have just finished presenting their budget requests and justifications for the next budget cycle to UBAC. As usual, the amount needed far exceeds the amount available. As the income side becomes firm - state support, base budget enhancement, tuition - a rank ordering of initiatives will take shape.

2. Next week, the Budget Committee will meet with the Chancellor and VCAA to discuss salary pool. Initial indications give that amounts will be available for TIAA/CREF enhancement, promotion increases, unit merit, extraordinary individual merit, compression/equity, and of course, regular merit.
