SIGNIFICANT FACULTY GOVERNANCE ACTIVITIES/ACTIONS DURING 1999-2000
* Formed a salary oversight committee
* Modified bylaws to officially embed Library Committee and Awards
Committee into the FA
* Formed a Nontenure Faculty Committee
* Recommended salary corrections for underpaid instructors and to correct
compression in more senior tenure track faculty (first of 3 years currently
being implemented)
* Approved a core curriculum policy
* Approved a salary grievance process policy
* Approved an intercampus transfer policy
* Conducted a much simplified Administrative Performance Appraisal (APA) online
* Conducted a pilot study of online FCQs
* Conducted an online poll on a proposed new "Scholar in Residence" title
* Hired new FA admin assistant and installed new equipment for easy
scanning and publishing documents on the web
* Published budget report on campus parking
* Established comprehensive computerized multiyear database of all FA
members and committee members
* Passed a resolution on unit merit
* Failed to pass an policy recommendation regarding PC hardware maintenance
* Failed to pass a uniform grade appeal process
* Failed to change the committee chair election schedule from spring to fall
PARTICULARLY SIGNIFICANT UCCS CAMPUS/SYSTEM ACTIVITIES DURING 1999-2000
* Completed facilities masterplan for campus
* Completed and received approval for the campus academic masterplan
* Established an administrative organization panel to study the
administrative structure and recommend possible changes
* Made plans for a "Fall Festival" that takes the place of homecoming at
other colleges and universities
* Changed the peer group of institutions to better fit the character of the
campus (part of systemwide change)
* The system changed formula for the distribution of new State monies to
the campuses
* Successful in getting the Legislature to let us significantly increase
our tuition rates for professional programs
* Highly successful in getting new building plans put in the State funding
queue
* Faculty handbook established online systemwide
