SUSTAINABILITY TASKFORCE

Many members of the committee are serving on the Chancellor’s Sustainability Taskforce, charged with developing a report for the Strategic Plan due March 2007.  Committee members applaud the commitment of the Chancellor and the VCAF to building the new Recreation Center and the new Science/Engineering Building to LEEDS certification standards.

SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT MINOR

Several students have now graduated with this minor.  An effort this year will provide more information about sustainability, the minor, and career options to students with this minor.

Later this semester there will be a reception for faculty teaching courses in the minor.  Interested faculty whose courses are not currently listed but who are interested will be welcome as well.

SUSTAINABILITY CONFERENCES AND WORKSHOPS

A number of UCCS students and faculty will attend the campus sustainability conference at ASU later this semester, the annual sustainability conference at Fort Carson on November 9^th, and the campus sustainability conference in Boulder in February.

MEETING TIME

Last year the committee met the second Friday of the month at 8:00 am.  Members will be polled to find another time as many have found the time not convenient this semester. CAMPUS SUSTAINABILITY DAY

There is a nation-wide campus sustainability day, October 25^th.  Committee members will work with the student club, SEAS, and the campus sustainability office in planning campus events for UCCS.
