September 14, 2001 Report To Faculty Representative Assembly

The personnel and benefits committee met on September 11, 2001. This was not our usual date which made it impossible for representatives from Business and Engineering to attend. Present were Dave Bravo from central payroll and benefits services, Catherine Mundy, Al Ramirez, and Don Morley. All action items were tabled until our regularly scheduled meeting on October 2, 2001. Dave Bravo did report that the UCCS campus would have its own benefits officer. The position would be classified staff.  Details of the job description were written by Ed Paris in consultation with faculty governance. Reporting would be a split 50/50 between Dave Bravo and Ed Paris. The position would later report to Dave Bravo and the Associate Vice Chancellor of Human and Public Resources once one has been hired. Target date from bringing the benefits officer on board is mid October.

Open enrollment will start October 22. Five sessions have been planned. Times and dates to be announced.

The Governor has announced restrictions on payroll deductions for all state employees. These restrictions appear to preclude such deductions as union dues and donations made outside of the Colorado Combined Campaign.
